Mom came up to visit today. It could have felt super rushed, but surprisingly it didn't. After we met her at South Station, we went to Mr. Bartley's for a burger. I went yesterday for the first time with Erin and Liz during dinner break and had to bring Mom and Kat. I had not gone before yesterday, but that was because I didn't realize that it was actually possible for them to substitute a veggie burger on any of their burgers on the menu. Yesterday I had a veggie Michelle Obama with cheese fries, and today I had a veggie Kevin Garnett. Kat and Mom loved it also, and the best part of it was that we had gotten in at the perfect time to beat the lunch rush. As we left there was a decent sized line waiting outside.
The BU Theatre was the next stop, to see the Huntington Theatre's production of Two Men of Florence. I liked it a lot, especially the visuals. There were a few times in the play that I felt myself lose track of what one person was saying, but overall it was a very compelling presentation of the story. Even though I know the pain and frustration that came along with creating the star effect using fiber optics, it was totally worth the effect, it is just stunning when they first come on. My mom loved them, and we got to show her the backstage afterward which is always fun.
Earlier in the day I thought that I would have to rush from the BU Theatre to Zero Arrow for my show, but it turned out that I had done my math wrong. We had plenty of time to grab dinner at Au Bon Pain or Oo Boo Poo as I call it. I then gave my mom the tour of Zero Arrow, and she took a ton of pictures. She particularly loved the light coming in through one of the windows. I would have had her come to the show tonight at Zero, but it is just not one that I think she would enjoy, a little too depressing, and really just overwhelmingly negative. I am really happy that the show looks so good though, I think Kirsten did an amazing job with the lighting.
Then, since we were at Zero Arrow, I had to bring them to Berry Line for some froyo. Unfortunately, Mom had to leave after that so she could catch her 7:30 bus back to Hartford, but I think it was a fun, albeit short, visit for her.
